An incident at a restaurant in San Francisco has gone viral after a TikTok video captured the moment a transgender woman was verbally assaulted in public. The incident took place at the Cheesecake Factory in San Francisco’s Union Square, where TikTok star Lilly Contino was enjoying a meal with her dog while live-streaming to her followers.
Shocking Verbal Assault!
In the footage, a woman can be heard proudly identifying herself as a TERF, a group of feminists that hold transphobic views.
Off-camera, the woman declares, “You know I’m a TERF, right? Trans-eccentric radical feminist.”
The conversation takes a shocking turn when the woman misgenders Ms. Contino, referring to her as a boy. She then makes physical threats to Contino, warning that she can “Hit hard.”
It Quickly Escalates
The incident escalates further as the woman insists that Ms. Contino should not judge her for being a TERF and asserts their right to self-expression.
She dismisses Ms. Contino, before threatening to label Ms. Contino as a white racist.
Disturbing Attack Goes Viral!
Ms. Contino requests to speak with the restaurant manager, who can be heard off-camera apologizing for the incident.
She later shared a clip of the encounter on TikTok, which has since amassed 9.7 million views.
Reflecting on a Traumatic Incident
Later, Ms. Contino revealed that the harassment began when the woman began telling jokes and offered to show a surgery scar on her stomach.
When she politely declined, the woman responded with, “I’ll show you if I want to, son.”

As a transgender person, Ms. Contino explained that she was particularly sensitive to gender language, which made the encounter even more shocking.

She expressed her astonishment, noting that nothing of this nature had ever happened to her before, especially considering she had moved from Georgia to the liberal city of San Francisco.
“I was just like flabbergasted. I’ve never been physically threatened in public. I’ve never been berated in public,” Ms. Contino shared.

She emphasised her choice to reside in San Francisco due to its liberal and queer-friendly reputation, making the incident all the more surprising and disappointing.
She Expressed Her Dissapointment
“To have it happen in such a public place and have nobody help,” she added, expressing her dismay over the lack of intervention during the incident.

TikTok was astonished to see the disturbing video, and users were quick to defend Contino with one stating, “I’m sorry you had to deal with that. you don’t deserve that. you are an AMAZING WOMAN.”
