Kayla Lemieux is a teacher in Canada who claimed to suffer from a “rare condition” called gigantomastia, which “involves developing extremely large breasts.”
According to the Cleveland Clinic, this condition only affects people “assigned female at birth.”
Paid Leave
Lemieux was working at Oakville-Trafalgar High School before being placed on paid leave last school year.
New Position
Lemieux accepted a position at Nora Frances Henderson Secondary School for the new school year.
Teacher Ditched the Breasts
Things got confusing when Lemieux showed up for a “teacher planning day” at the new school with a beard and dressed as a man without the “z-cup” breasts.
Police Escort
Lemieux arrived at the school for “professional activities” day with a police escort. Lemieux arrived “half an hour after the rest of the teachers,” according to reporters.
Accusations Denied
In the past, Lemieux denied accusations that the breasts were fake. In an interview, Lemieux told the New York Post, “I’m not wearing prosthetic breasts. These are real.”
Gigantomastia
Lemieux defended the large breasts by saying, “My condition is classified as gigantomastia, which can also be referred to as macromastia or breast hypertrophy.”
Parents Left “Gobsmacked”
Lemieux’s new appearance left parents “gobsmacked,” according to one interview.
Upset Parents
Celina Close, a parent from the former school where Lemieux worked, was “infuriated” over the situation.
She questioned if parents were “supposed to accept” the fact that Lemieux is male.
Teacher Is a “Deranged Liar” Said Some
Close said Lemieux was a “deranged liar” and “mentally unstable” because everyone was told that Lemieux’s “breasts were real” and no one was allowed to “question Lemieux’s gender.”

Another parent said, “It is ridiculous [that] anyone would accept this without justification.”
New Identity
It was reported that Lemieux was “self-identifying as male and using the legal name Kerry” at the new school.
Memo From the Principal
The principal of the school, Tom Fisher, sent out a memo to parents saying that the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board had “an obligation to uphold individual rights and treat everyone with dignity and respect.”
Warning for Parents
Principal Fisher didn’t specifically mention Lemieux’s name in the memo, but he did warn parents that an incoming teacher was “recently the subject of public attention, pertaining to their gender expression, while teaching at a school in a different community.”
Parents Told to Call or Email First
Because of the potential security concerns at the school where Lemieux accepted a job, Principal Fisher asked parents to “email or call before coming to the school.”
