They’re Not Your Typical Couple
OP is a 28-year-old woman who has been with her 28-year-old boyfriend for two years.
They are a happy couple and recently moved in together, but their backstory is pretty complicated.
He Moved On and Found Love
When OP was 12, her parents got divorced and started dating other people. Then, when she was 14, her dad met a woman that he fell in love with.
They Were a Huge Crew
The new woman in dad’s life had 3 sons of her own, and OP had 2 brothers. The two families didn’t get together as a group very often, but when they did, it was all 8 of them.

With 2 adults and 6 kids running around the house at the same time, OP didn’t have much one-on-one time with any of the new woman’s kids.

In fact, OP’s dad decided that he still loved her mom, and he called off his engagement. OP’s parents got remarried when she was 18.
They Were Casual Acquaintances
Several years later, when OP was 25 years old, she ended up working indirectly for the oldest son of her dad’s ex-girlfriend. They recognized each other and chatted every once in a while, but they didn’t spend much time together.

Hearing that his son had barged in on the call, OP’s boyfriend swooped in to retrieve the boy. When the BF popped up on camera, OP’s dad recognized him right away.
He Spilled the Beans
OP’s mom asked who the guy was, and her husband told her that he was the son of the woman he almost married.
She Fessed Up
Mom was confused and asked what was going on. That’s when OP told her that she and the son of her dad’s ex were a couple.
She Was Shocked
OP’s mom got very upset and ran out of the room, which left the rest of the callers gawking at OP.
She Ruined It All
OP ducked out of the meeting, but her family followed up with all sorts of nasty messages.
They say that she ruined her parents’ ceremony and needs to apologize.

But OP says she will not apologize for her relationship and that she tried to tell her parents the truth months earlier. So, in a way, they ruined their own ceremony.
