There haven’t been any problems at home because of OP’s race, but there have definitely been issues in the extended family.

A particular aunt and uncle have been really tough for OP over the years because they are closed-minded and bigoted in general.
They Don’t Like Anyone
They constantly make derogatory comments about non-white people, gay people, and anyone else who is not like them.
The aunt and uncle have said several times that OP is not really family.
She Just Ignores Them
All of that is hurtful, of course, but OP mostly lets it slide.
She hardly ever sees that particular aunt and uncle outside of the odd family reunion.
Their Worlds Collided
But all of the hard feelings and prejudice came to a head at the most recent reunion, where OP ran into this aunt and uncle again.
They Didn’t Want a Kid Like Her
For years, the aunt had been struggling with fertility issues.
But they didn’t want to adopt and end up with a “problem child” like OP.
She Wasted Her Purpose
It didn’t help the dynamic that OP herself had to get a hysterectomy at a young age.
The conservative aunt and uncle condemned her for wasting her “purpose” as a woman.
She Wouldn’t Have Done It
Weirdly, the aunt and uncle even said they were upset that OP couldn’t be a surrogate for them.
