OP is a 33-year-old woman who lives with her 46-year-old boyfriend.
They have been together a few years and moved in together about 6 months after they started dating.
She Works Hard for Them
OP works a full-time job, but her boyfriend is a disabled veteran and does not work at all.
He Helps When He Can
But at least OP’s boyfriend makes some money from his pension and kicks in a few hundred dollars here and there to help with household needs that pop up.
She Makes Good Scratch
For the most part, though, OP pays for their living expenses.
She’s been pretty OK with that since she makes a lot more than her boyfriend.
He Has His Hands Full
OP’s boyfriend also has three daughters with his ex-wife.
The girls are ages 15, 17, and 18.
He Had to Pay
Since the girls’ mother had custody of them, OP’s boyfriend was paying child support, which amounted to about $1200 per month in all.
She’s Super Busy
Meanwhile, OP has two daughters of her own, ages 10 and 13, with her ex-husband.
The girls live with their mother 60% of the time.
She Changed the Game
All in all it was a busy life that worked well for OP and her boyfriend until his ex suddenly decided that she no longer wanted to be a mother.
She Destroyed the Place
In the process of deciding what to do with the girls, OP and her boyfriend discovered that his ex had destroyed their family home.
There were holes in the floor, services had been disconnected, and the woman was using buckets as her toilet.
It Was About to Get Crowded
Given the dire circumstances, a judge decided that the three girls would have to move in with their dad.
And that meant they’d be moving in with OP, too.
He Bumped Things Up
To help offset some of the added costs, OP’s boyfriend started giving her a steady $500 per month.

That was fine with OP in the beginning, though things were a lot more crowded.
Especially when her daughters were also in the house.

But after a while, OP noticed that her finances were starting to get a little tight.
When she did a deep dive into her bank account, she figured out she was spending $1700 more per month since her boyfriend’s three daughters moved in.
She Needed More
Since the boyfriend now had custody of the girls, he was no longer paying child support.
So OP asked him to kick in that extra $1200 a month to help keep their household going.
Too Rich for His Blood
That request offended OP’s boyfriend, who accused her of being a money grubber.
