OP has been married to his wife for a couple of decades, and they were never ever to have children of their own.

But OP became friends with another man and his girlfriend about 20 years ago.
They Weren’t Careful
OP’s friends were young and liked to party, and they also had lots of unprotected sex.
Turns out, they didn’t believe in abortion, either.
They Gave Her Up
So it was no surprise when the other woman turned up pregnant.
Not ready to be parents and with no other good options, the couple gave up their baby to OP and his wife.
She Was a Blessing
Since OP and his wife couldn’t have their own kids, they were thrilled to adopt the baby girl.
They Loved Every Minute
And for the next two decades or so, life was great for OP and his family.
He and his wife loved being parents, and they gave their daughter a good upbringing.
They Were Stressed Out
But during the pandemic, OP’s wife lost her job, and finances got really tight.
They started to stress out about how to pay for college.
Things Were Looking Up
As the world started to recover from the pandemic, though, OP himself landed a better job.
The family’s future was looking better again.
There’s Not Much Time Left
But OP is still worried about paying for college. With his daughter now 17 years old, it’s all rushing at them really quickly.
He Wanted to Reconnect
Recently, OP’s old friend wanted to visit his biological daughter and catch up a bit.
He Had an Idea
That was fine with OP, and he also saw it as a potential opportunity to solve his problem.
He Lived It Up
During the years while OP and his wife were busy raising their family, his buddy had been living the good life.
They Spent Big
First, OP’s friend and his girlfriend got married. Then they spent their time making money and spending it on expensive cars, big houses, and fancy vacations.
He Saw a Payday
OP figured that a reunion would be his chance to find more money for his daughter’s college.
He Wanted to Pay
And sure enough, while the five of them were eating and catching up, OP’s friend offered to pay for 20% of his biological daughter’s college costs.
She Wanted More
That offer didn’t sit right with OP’s daughter, and she asked her bio dad why he wouldn’t pay for more.
That Was His Limit
The friend responded that the girl was OP’s daughter and not his responsibility.
He thought his offer was very generous, and he wasn’t going to give any more.
He Couldn’t Let It Go
The conversation pretty much halted at that point, and the whole dinner felt awkward.
OP decided to take matters into his own hands..

So once they were finished eating, OP confronted his friend outside and read him the riot act.
He Knew He Had the Money
OP told his old buddy that he was an a** for not paying for his daughter’s education.
He was loaded, after all, and could easily afford it.
He Rubbed It In
But OP’s friend took offense to the attack and basically told OP to stick it.
Then he high-tailed it back to his fancy condo.
She Was Devastated
Back at home, OP’s daughter locked herself in her room and spent the night crying.
She’s Done With Them
Now the girl has cut off all contact with her biological parents and tells OP she never wants to see them again.
He’s Tapped Out
For his part, OP is left wondering how he’s going to cover the girl’s college tuition when money is still so tight.
