Corporate psychopaths are charismatic, obsessed with self-image, reminiscent of characters like Patrick Bateman in “American Psycho.”
Jekyll and Hyde Behavior
Corporate psychopaths treat junior and senior colleagues differently. Superiors admire them, “They tend to be seen as stars by those above them because they are so good at impression management,” Boddy claimed.
The Devil In Management
On the other hand, subordinates often see them as disruptive figures, “whereas their subordinates tend to think they’re the devil in a suit,” said Boddy.
Toxic Workplaces
Companies with corporate psychopaths suffer. Talented employees leave, leaving a lack of experience and morale, undermining employees’ “self confidence” and “willingness to work,” “They make people cry in the office in front of other people,” said Boddy.
