The survey, which gathered opinions from 600 Republican primary voters in late August through telephone and web surveys, showed DeSantis trailing by 13 points compared to April and cementing a dominating lead.

DeSantis’ favorability rating took a hit since the April survey, with the percentage of respondents viewing him favorably plummeting from 84 percent to 70 percent.

Even Trump’s favorability dipped slightly, moving from 78 percent to 75 percent between the two polls.

Beyond Trump and DeSantis, the GOP primary field showcased other candidates, but none came close, with only 8 percent of respondents favoring former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, while newcomer and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy secured 5 percent.

Haley, Ramaswamy, and Christie managed to slightly increase their supporter’s share since the April survey, though these gains were in the single digits.

A Stark Belief Among Respondents

The poll also unearthed a striking belief held by the majority of respondents.

They overwhelmingly regarded Trump’s four indictments as politically motivated instead of justice for his criminal activity.
