They Got Busy
The grandmother had 5 kids with her husband, including OP’s dad, 2 aunts, and 2 uncles.

OP’s grandmother was always an awesome mother, but her husband was a complete mess as a father.
He Was a Bad Dad
The big problem with OP’s grandfather was that he was an alcoholic and spent all the family’s money on booze.
He also treated his wife and kids horribly and wasn’t around much.
She Tossed Him Out
Finally fed up with his behavior, OP’s grandmother booted her husband from the house back in the 1990s.
She Was All Alone
OP’s grandfather pretty much disappeared at that point, which left his grandmother to raise her kids alone.
She Worked Day and Night
Over the next couple decades, OP’s grandmother worked multiple jobs to keep the family afloat.
Her husband never contributed financially and hardly ever saw the kids at all.
