OP is a 34-year-old man who is married to a 35-year-old man. They have been together for several years.
He Didn’t Want to Tell Them
But OP grew up in a very bigoted family, and he always feared what their reaction would be when they finally found out he was gay.
Grandpa to the Rescue!
When he was in his 20s, though, OP’s grandfather died and left him a big chunk of money. It was enough for a new start.
He Finally Came Out
So OP made a down payment on a house in another county and moved away.
Just before he left, he told his parents and brother that he was gay.
It Was Worse Than He Feared
As OP had feared, his family exploded. They said he was going to rot for eternity, and they completely disowned him.
He Left Them Behind
Since then, OP has had almost no contact with his family, and he’s happily moved on with his life and his loving husband.
Big Bro Wanted to Apologize
Recently, though, OP’s 38-year-old brother contacted him to apologize for the way he had treated him when he came out.
