Imagine you’re strolling down the street one chilly February morning, and what catches your eye is a flock of strollers, unattended.
But wait, there’s more! Inside each stroller are actual live babies, peacefully sleeping in the freezing winter air. Strangely enough, nobody seems bothered by it, as if this is a completely normal sight.
This unthinkable situation was recently shared by Australian TikToker Olly Bowman, leaving people stunned and concerned!
In his video clip, he revealed that in Norway, leaving babies outside in strollers is the norm.
For most people, unattended children left out in the cold would raise major concerns. Yet this man casually strolled past a crowd of baby buggies left outside, and guess what? It’s completely normal in Norway, even during the winter months!
So, What’s All the Fuss About?
Parents actually leave their little ones outside to nap, believing it benefits their health and independence.
According to Olly, it helps with their breathing and makes them more independent, and he even thinks it’s the reason why Norwegians are early risers.
Norway isn’t alone in this practice. Many people in the Nordic countries prefer letting their babies sleep outdoors.
Although many commenters expressed concerns about kidnapping risks, Nordic countries actually have low crime rates and are known for being high-trust societies.
The primary risk to the child is from cold-related injuries and conditions.

Despite the risks and not a lot of evidence that it benefits babies, most Scandinavian parents consider this a normal routine.
While cold weather itself may not provide significant benefits to babies, being in a natural environment certainly does, with many people arguing that it improves a child’s immune system for a start.
