In a bombshell memo, a four-star Air Force general made shocking predictions about an impending war with China and issued unprecedented directives to officers under his command.

General Mike Minihan, head of Air Mobility Command, sent a memo to officers in which he predicted a war with China in just two years.
Chilling Preparations
Officers were instructed to prepare by firing “a clip” at a target and aiming for the head.
Air Mobility Command’s Size
Air Mobility Command, responsible for transport and refueling, boasts nearly 50,000 service members and nearly 500 planes.
General’s Gut Feeling
General Minihan stated, “My gut tells me we will fight in 2025” in the memo obtained by a news source.
Electoral Distraction
Minihan’s prediction is based on both Taiwan and the U.S. having presidential elections in 2024, which he believes will distract the U.S.
Chinese Opportunity
He suggested that Chinese President Xi Jinping may use this distraction as an opportunity to move on Taiwan.
Preparing Goals
The memo outlined goals for preparing, including building a “fortified, ready, integrated, and agile Joint Force Maneuver Team ready to fight and win inside the first island chain.”
Reporting Deadline
Minihan ordered air wing commanders and other Air Force operational commanders to report all significant efforts to prepare for a conflict with China by Feb. 28.
Unconventional Training
In February, he directed all personnel to “fire a clip into a 7-meter target” and emphasized that “unrepentant lethality matters most.”
Risk in Training
Minihan encourages officers to accept some risk in training and warns that if they’re too comfortable, they’re not taking enough risk.
Drone Swarm Capability
General Minihan hinted at the possibility of using commercial drone swarms in a conflict with China and directed KC-135 units to prepare for delivering drones.
Defense Department’s Response
A defense department official clarified that Minihan’s comments are not representative of the department’s view on China.
National Defense Strategy
The Defense Department explained that China remains the pacing challenge and focuses on preserving a peaceful Indo-Pacific.
Admiral’s Previous Warning
In March 2021, Adm. Philip Davidson warned of China’s ambitions, saying, “The threat is manifest during this decade, in fact, in the next six years.”
Secretary of Defense’s Remark
When asked about the possibility of a Chinese invasion of Taiwan, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin expressed doubts, citing provocative behavior by China, “What we’re seeing recently is some very provocative behavior on the part of China’s forces and their attempt to re-establish a new normal.” He said.
